Assignment 3A - Your Entreprenuership Story
A time in my life where I have been exposed to entrepreneurship was when I started a club in high school. I was in an academy at my high school that was focused on interior design and I wanted a place where we could use the skills we were being taught in the classroom and apply them to stuff not related to school. So I thought of making the Interior Design Club. I thought it would be easy, just get a teacher to sponsor it and get some friends to be the officers and it would be fun. I was right and wrong. It was fun, because everyone who joined had the shared ineterest in interior design but it was hard because there are so many things going on behind the scenes that just seem to happen. Like figuring out how much dues were, the t-shirt design we wanted, what every officers roles were, and what activities would we do to involve our members. it took a lot of planning and extra work I nor my friends did not expect but in the end we had a club of around 30 (mainly) girls who shared a passion for interior design and we met once a week and did projects to help our school and even made items for ourselves or family as gifts.
Looking back, I'm glad I did it because it pushed me out of my comfort zone and gave me a greater appreciation for people who manage large clubs and organizations on campus because I had a small taste of it during my junior and senior year of high school.
I took this class because it is required for my minor but I am glad it is. I believe that it goes along with my business management major very well because entrepreneurship is more prevalent in business now more than ever. I hope to learn how to develop my ideas in this class. I tend to have some idea then I either forget it or I dismiss it because I think I have no idea how to even start to develop this small idea into something that could potentially be larger.

Hey Kayla,
ReplyDeleteOh wow you started a club? That takes a lot of leadership. That's awesome! I was a president for one and that in itself was pretty tough - especially after not getting any training for it or anything. It's great that it pushed you out of your comfort zone. I hope this course works out for you! The workshops should definitely help too.
