18A - Create a Customer Avatar

My product is a cirriculum that can be sold to universities but for the purpose of the avatar I will describe my ideal student taking my course.

My ideal student is a female aged 18-19 who has lived with her parents/guardian her whole life and has ot exerienced having to do "aldut" tasks on her own   before.  She just started school at a university. But not just any university, a top university that boasts of high academic acheivements and has a lot of involvement opportunities for students on campus. She needs to go to a university like this so it makes her schedule and the pressure of collegevery intense.

She should be a freshman in her first semester of school. Her hobbies include many academic clubs that take her time away from the simple tasks like laundry and grocery shopping, things that she doesn't place priority on a lot since she is not used to doing things herself. She is having a hard time acclimating to her newfound freedom at college. Where there are no parents or older siblings around to remind her to do things like take the trash out or clean their bedding, or to tell her that the freshman 15 is real and she should probally not eat that ice cream for breakfast.

I had a lot of things in common with her when I was a freshman, I had never lived away from home before and wasn't expecting to be overwhelmed by all of the freedom I had just been given. I didn't realize half of the battle of surviving and thriving in college was just the day-to-day activities and finding your own personal rhythm along with the school work. I do not find this concidential at all becuase I created this business idea because of the personal experiences I went through.

  1. Hi Kayla, I think the avatar you made for your course is very fitting. Considering she has never had to do “adult” tasks before, having a course that could teach her the basic fundamentals on how to do laundry and grocery shop would be very beneficial. Living on your own for the first time can be scary and foreign so by having tips on how to make the transition easier could be very useful.

  2. Hi Kayla,

I think many college students can relate to the avatar you created and described. Adjusting to college and living on your own is overwhelming for many at first. While I agree that these skills are critical for learning, I would have liked for you to differentiate your service from just googling these questions. When I was a freshman adjusting to college and needed help with something, I just googled it. What is different about your course than googling it? I think this post would be improved by showing how this specific avatar is benefited by a course like yours, rather than just looking for the answers online herself.

  3. Hi Kayla,
I think many students struggle with this problem your character is facing. It's hard to leave your parents home and go away for school where you have to do everything for yourself. Having so much free time on your hands makes you wanna do other things than doing what you actually have to do. Many times this makes you wanna eat out and not eat at home.

  4. Hey Kayla,
I like your avatar. I think it's very thought through and I think that's thanks to how much you took from your freshman experience. The thing I would have liked to have read, however, was to know how your avatar would benefit from using your product. I don't think I have read about your product before so knowing a little bit about it through your avatar would have been interesting. Overall, good work though!
