Assignment 30A - Final Reflection

1) Read through your posts from this semester. Recall all of the experiences you've had a long the way -- the highs, the lows -- the fun moments, and the moments of drudgery, and even the moments of dread.
  • The beginning of this class, and just looking at all of the assignments we were going to have to do, along with the peer reviews, was a big moment of dread for me. But I soon realized that everyone in this class was probably experiencing the same dread as me so I thought, "hey, we are all in this together."
2) What sticks out to you as the most formative experience? The experience that you'll remember years later? What was your most joyous experience? What experience are you most proud of yourself for accomplishing?
  • The most formative experience was when I had just thought of my business idea and submitted it and got the peer review back saying that they liked my idea. I was so ready for someone to shoot it down as a bad idea or say that they had heard of something like it before.
  • I am most proud of finishing this class with an idea and work that I can be proud of. Some of the assignments were very annoying or hard at times but I did them and believe that I did a pretty good job for not knowing a lot about entrepreneurship prior to this class.
3) At the beginning of the semester, I mentioned that I wanted each of you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Now, at the end, do you see yourself as an entrepreneur? Do you think you have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset?
  • I would not say that I see myself as an entrepreneur, but I do believe that I have a better appreciation for actual entrepreneurs because this class was a small glimpse of the tasks and struggles that they face. I do believe though that  I have moved closer to developing an entrepreneurial mindset mainly because of all of the reflection and feedback we had to give/receive throughout the duration of this class.
4) What is the one recommendation you would make to the students who are going to journey down this path in the future? What would you recommend they do to perform best in this course? What would you recommend they do to foster that mindset?
  • To preform best in this course I would say #1, don't get behind. Make sure you look ahead as to what assignments are due because especially for the interview ones, people have their own lives and not everyone's schedule aligns with yours.
  • I would recommend coming into this class with an open mind, even if you don't see yourself being an entrepreneur (like I did) there are still a lot of valuable skills you can gain from the class and who knows, they might come out of it with a new career path.

  1. Hey Kayla,
There's a lot I can agree with you after reading your reflection. First off, that this class looked like it was going to be a total dread. And it was, all throughout. But you're right, we went through it and now we're done. So that at least is good. Second, I really agree that I wouldn't call myself an entrepreneur but I definitely have a better appreciation for those that are and want to be ones. It takes a lot of work, really does. Props to them. Lastly, yeah definitely wouldn't want to get behind on this class. It was admittedly, very often, the last thing I did in the week. I learned my lesson eventually. Sort of.
